Kitchen Coordinator

Summary:
As an incubator for budding & scaling businesses, Can-Do Kalamazoo is committed to a more equitable and accessible path toward business success for all of Kalamazoo’s entrepreneurs. Emerging brands, local retailers, and established businesses come to Can-Do Kalamazoo to grow, scale, and reach new heights. Can-Do Kalamazoo connects entrepreneurs and small business owners to the right people in their industry and sets them up for success with one-on-one meetings, business planning, programs, access to funding and other crucial resources, and our license-ready commercial kitchen.
This is a part-time position of 32 hours per week, initially. It could grow into a full-time position as the organization grows.
Responsibilities:
■ Act as the liaison for kitchen clients regarding their kitchen and business needs
■ Manage the kitchen schedule and client records on scheduling software
■ Regularly check in with kitchen users
■ Troubleshoot kitchen-related issues
■ Stock kitchen cleaning supplies
■ Clean the kitchen, walk-in coolers, and equipment
■ Coordinate cold, dry, and frozen storage assignments
■ Guide kitchen users through food safety certification
■ Coordinate licensing with State and County licensing officials
■ Hold kitchen users accountable to kitchen policies
■ Assist in onboarding and training new kitchen users in the kitchen facilities
Experience and Skills
The ideal candidate will possess:
■ 3 years of commercial kitchen, restaurant, or chef experience
■ 2 years in a business or non-profit setting
■ 1 year of teaching, instruction, or training experience
■ 2 years of customer service experience
■ Food safety management certification
■ Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite
■ Proficiency in using apps and a variety of software
■ Effective verbal and written communication
■ Conflict management experience
■ Ability to work effectively with diverse community members and colleagues
■ Commercial kitchen cleaning experience
■ Proficiency in cross-cultural communication skills
■ Basic maintenance skills
Compensation:
$16-$18 per hour, commensurate with experience. Benefits include Paid Time Off, Paid Holidays, and Wellness Reimbursement Program.
Additional Information:
● This position will spend approximately 90% of its work time at the Can-Do Kalamazoo facility. Much of that time will be spent in the kitchen areas.
● Individual needs to have the flexibility to work between 10:00 pm and 4:00 am on occasion (as often as 1-2 times per month)
